There’s often a need for a big burst of concept design work early in a project. My experience with the technical aspects of production and the practicalities of game design have led to several opportunities to participate in this key design process.

Every role I’ve had at every studio has been flexible enough to integrate concept design, and I’ve been fortunate to be asked to keep at it in every case. I was the Lead Concept Artist for Warhammer Online – leading a team of 6 internal artists and 12 external artists, managing feedback from the Art Director, coordinating approvals with Games Workshop, and feeding our internal and external art production teams.

I have had great opportunities to expand on established IP like Warhammer, The Elder Scrolls, and Fallout. I’ve also been on several multi-year efforts to develop and establish new IP via concept design.

I love the opportunity to visualize what might be possible in games and take every chance I get to work with concept art, but ultimately I’m more interested in shipping games. This means that most of my work in games has not been in concept art. You’ll see mostly concept work on this site because work as a lead and technical work on pipelines doesn’t make for pretty pictures.
